Day 1
09:00 · Pickup
Your English-speaking guide will pick you up from your accommodation to begin your overnight trekking adventure. After a short walk, you will enter the Gunung Leuser National Park area and continue trekking through the rainforest.
Morning · Park entrance
You will walk into the national park and onto the trail — the start of two days in one of the last great rainforests on Earth.
On the trail
Your guide will point out animals and plants and explain the rainforest and its biodiversity. With luck, you may spot gibbons, Thomas's leaf monkeys, long-tailed macaques, pig-tailed macaques, flying squirrels, Sumatran peacocks, hornbills, and even wild orangutans.
Mid-morning · Rest stop
You will take a short break to enjoy fresh fruit provided by your guide, then hike for about 2 more hours before stopping for lunch amid the cool forest atmosphere.
Midday · Lunch
During this two-day trek, you will venture deeper into the forest, walking through the cool canopy as you enjoy lunch.
16:00 · Riverside camp
You will arrive at a campsite near the river where you will spend the night. Relax with a cup of coffee or tea, go for a swim, and rest while your dinner is prepared. Mosquito net, mattresses, pillows, and blanket will ensure a comfortable night's sleep in the jungle.
Evening · Night in the jungle
In the evening, you will have the chance to play games or simply gaze at the stars. Being in the forest at night is a truly different experience — different animals, different sounds, and a stunning sky full of stars. Your sweet dreams will be accompanied by the sounds of the forest.
Day 2
Morning · At camp
You will wake to the sounds of monkeys, birds, insects, and the babbling of the Bohorok River. You will have a great chance to spot Sumatran monitor lizards, turtles, and colourful river butterflies around the campsite.
After breakfast
After breakfast, you can choose to go on another 3-hour hike or simply relax at the stunning waterfall near the campsite.
Midday
After a light lunch, it is time to head back to Bukit Lawang.
Afternoon · Return
More excitement awaits as your "jungle taxi" carries you back on a traditional tubing trip, with stunning views along the Bohorok River.
