Into the forest
At 9:00 a.m., our English-speaking guide collects you from your accommodation. After a short walk, you enter the Gunung Leuser National Park section of the Sumatran rainforest.
Jungle Trekking
Four days in the heart of the forest — a new camp each night, then tubing back on the Bohorok.
On this 4-day, 3-night trek, you will explore wilderness trails and discover the forest's riches and medicinal plants. With luck, you may spot rare wildlife such as wild peacocks, hornbills, giant squirrels, or honey bear tracks. Each night brings a new campsite, and your guides prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day.
Day 1
09:00 · Pickup
At 9:00 a.m., our English-speaking guide collects you from your accommodation. After a short walk, you enter the Gunung Leuser National Park section of the Sumatran rainforest.
On the trail
As you hike over hills on the western side of the national park, your guide will point out animal and plant species and explain the rainforest and its biodiversity. With luck, you may spot gibbons, Thomas's leaf monkeys, long-tailed macaques, pig-tailed macaques, flying squirrels, Sumatran peacocks, hornbills, and even wild orangutans along the trail.
15:30 · Jambur Batu River
In the afternoon, around 3:30 PM, you reach the Jambur Batu River and set up camp for the night. Swim, relax, and enjoy afternoon coffee and tea while our team prepares a jungle dinner of local Indonesian cuisine. In the evening, play games or stargaze. Mosquito net, mattresses, pillows, and blanket keep you comfortable through the night.
Day 2
Morning · At camp
Wake to the sounds of monkeys, birds, and insects around camp — an experience you will not forget.
After breakfast
After breakfast, set out on a 3–4-hour trek. The deeper you go into the rainforest, the better your chances of spotting wildlife. For lunch, your guide prepares a simple meal at the top of a hill. The views along the route through the national park make for a memorable afternoon. You can swim in the jungle pool beneath a beautiful waterfall.
Evening · Jambur Batu River
Our team sets up camp for the second night on the banks of the Jambur Batu River and serves Indonesian dinner with refreshing drinks. Spend the evening in your jungle tent playing cards or watching the night sky. Night in the jungle is an entirely different experience — different animals, different sounds, and a sky full of stars.
Day 3
Morning · Upstream
In the morning, wake once again to the sounds of the forest. After breakfast, trek deeper into the jungle, hiking upstream along the Bohorok River for about 6 hours. You will take several breaks to observe the flora and fauna, enjoy lunch, and sample tropical fruit.
Afternoon · Bohorok River
After lunch, walk to the new campsite. As the trek progresses, you will grow more accustomed to setting up camp, preparing dinner in the wilderness, and working together as a team. You spend the third night at your campsite on the Bohorok River.
Day 4
Morning · Return
A relaxed final day — after breakfast, swim, sunbathe, or unwind around camp. The "Jungle Taxi" carries you back to your accommodation on a traditional tubing ride down the Bohorok River. Your guide then returns you to your guesthouse.
