Excellent physical fitness is required.
Day 1
09:00 · Pickup
At 9:00 a.m., our English-speaking guide collects you from your accommodation. After a short walk, you enter the Gunung Leuser National Park section of the Sumatran rainforest.
On the trail
As you hike over hills on the western side of the national park, your guide will point out animal and plant species and explain the rainforest and its biodiversity. With luck, you may spot gibbons, Thomas's leaf monkeys, long-tailed macaques, pig-tailed macaques, flying squirrels, Sumatran peacocks, hornbills, and even wild orangutans along the trail.
15:30 · Jambur Batu River
In the afternoon, around 3:30 PM, you reach the Jambur Batu River and set up camp for the night. Swim, relax, and enjoy afternoon coffee and tea while our team prepares a jungle dinner of local Indonesian cuisine.
Evening · Night in the jungle
In the evening, play games or stargaze and reflect on the first day. Mosquito net, mattresses, pillows, and blanket keep you comfortable. Night in the jungle is an entirely different experience — different animals, different sounds, and a sky full of stars.
Day 2
Morning · At camp
Wake to the sounds of monkeys, birds, and insects around camp — an experience you will not forget.
After breakfast
After breakfast, set out on a 5–6-hour trek. The deeper you go into the rainforest, the better your chances of spotting wildlife. For lunch, your guide prepares a simple meal at the top of a hill. The views along the route through the national park make for a memorable afternoon.
Evening · Bohorok River
Our team sets up camp for the second night on the banks of the Bohorok River and serves Indonesian dinner with refreshing drinks. Spend the evening in your jungle tent playing cards or watching the night sky.
Day 3
Morning · At camp
Wake once again to the sounds of the jungle. With luck, you may spot Sumatran monitor lizards, turtles, and colourful river butterflies around camp.
After breakfast
After breakfast, choose a further 3-hour hike or simply relax at the waterfall near camp.
Afternoon · Return
Lunch and a wild fruit salad are served before you head back to the village. Your "Jungle Taxi," with a private captain, takes you to your lodge on a traditional rafting trip down the Bohorok River — a memorable way to finish your trek through the Sumatran jungle.
